November Blessings- Day 5 (Gratitude is a Blessing)

It snowed for maybe thirty seconds this morning, before turning back to rain. We definitely have snow in our mountains, though. Seeing the first snow of the season has made me want to put away my fall decorations and pull out my winter ones, which are also my Christmas decorations. But I’ll wait for my youngest daughter to come home for Thanksgiving. She loves to help me decorate our home.

I was going to post my bucket list today, but I need a little more time to put it together. Instead, I want to share my thoughts about gratitude. There was a lot of gratitude expressed today at church. There are some families in our ward (congregation) who are struggling right now. Some of our members are battling cancer and other serious health issues. Yet, despite their trials, they are grateful for the blessings in their lives. Our ward family is always there for one other. There is so much service and love extended in times of need, so much friendship in our everyday lives.

I have realized in my own life that I’ve been blessed even in my darkest moments. First of all, I am never alone. Whatever I am going through, my Savior has already felt it. I also have an amazing husband, four wonderful children, and some true friends who stay connected with me across time and distance.  I also have the gospel in my life, and what a comfort that is, to know who I am, why I’m here on earth, and that there is a way home to my Heavenly Father.

“A grateful heart… comes through expressing gratitude to our Heavenly Father for His blessings and to those around us for all that they bring into our lives.”

~President Thomas S. Monson

Gratitude is a blessing in and of itself. That’s because a grateful heart is a happy heart.

♥ What are you feeling grateful for at this moment? I am grateful to each of my readers for their friendship and support. Thank you! I wish you each a beautiful week, full of blessings, big and small. ♥
