Father’s Day Kid Craft

Since Father’s Day is this Sunday, my craft girls made their dads or grandpas monster snack mixes this week at craft club. I think they turned out great! Last year, my girls made their dads the cutest candy/key holders.

For this craft I provided the following supplies:

  • Quart canning jars
  • Chex mix
  • M&M’s candies
  • Mixed nuts
  • Pompoms (various sizes)
  • Googly eyes
  • Chenille sticks and feathers
  • Craft glue and hot glue gun (requires adult supervision)
  • Scrapbook or printer paper
  • Markers
  • Scissors
  • Stickers (optional)

The girls created monsters for the lids, out of pompoms, googly eyes, and chenille sticks. They created their own labels out of printer or scrapbook paper. They filled their quart jars with Chex mix, M&M’s, and mixed nuts (if their dads ate nuts).

♥ My husband is driving home this very moment to spend this weekend with us. He works out of state so any time we get with him we especially treasure. I am so grateful to have him in my life. He is a wonderful father to our four children. He has taught our children the values of honest work, integrity, and serving from the heart. My own dad lives in the Philippines with his fifth wife and I haven’t seen him in over ten years. It is what it is, but I did have to go through some therapy to make peace with it. My father-in-law, Earl, passed away from cancer many years ago. I miss him. He was a great guy. One of my favorite memories is singing with him. He used to sing and play the guitar at events in his community. One time he taught me the chorus to the song he was performing and everyone was surprised when I stepped up to the microphone with him. At his funeral I had the privilege of singing, I Believe There Are Angels Among Us. I sang to a recording of Earl singing and my little nieces danced their own choreography in front of me. It was a special tribute to an amazing father and grandpa. ♥ To all the dads out there, Happy Father’s Day. ♥

    1. Thank you! It’s so nice to have him home, even for just a couple days, and my son surprised us by driving all the way from Texas to visit, too. ☺️

  1. Thanks for this. We have a big gift planned, but my husband is a snacker, and I can get my littles to make these today, and they will feel happy to give something homemade. 🙂 I’m glad I opened this post up this morning!!

    1. Update–we did make them, and they’re all ready to give to Dad this afternoon. 🙂 Ours aren’t as fancy, but my kids were thrilled to fill their jars and make custom labels. Thanks again for the inspiration.
