Kid Craft- Cats!

It was so good for my soul to start my craft days back up this month. (Honestly, this winter feels really drawn out for me.) One of the girls requested a cat craft so that’s what the kids made this past week. I host four classes each week this month: three evening classes for my SURF Club girls (Sweet Unique aRtsy Friends) and new this year- one day class for homeschoolers. 🙂

I love this background! Too cute.

For this craft I provided the following supplies:

I created my own templates: one is whimsical and the other a little more realistic.
  • Pre-cut cats from craft foam (in a variety of colors)
  • Craft glue
  • Scissors
  • Markers
  • Construction paper, felt scraps, craft foam scraps…
  • Googly eyes
  • Pom poms (various sizes), feathers, chenille stems…
  • Glitter! (and paint brushes can come in handy to spread glitter)

As you can see, each child put a lot of personality into her (or his) cat! Now that I have a day group, I have two boys, which is fun. It’s also fun to have some homeschool families participating this year. Hooray for homeschooling!

I don’t allow glitter with every craft because I always end up with a glitter explosion in my craft room. Of course that is what my craft room is for- craft messes. 🙂 Let me just say, however, that glitter brings out a lot of smiles and just makes some kids giddy with delight. I can understand that as most craft supplies make my day.

Thanks a million for stopping by my blog today. I hope you each had a relaxing weekend and that this Valentine’s week is lovely for you. I also hope spring is on its way for those of us who live in winter wonderlands (like me).
